  • Leadership and Brotherhood Await You

Alpha Gamma Rho is unique in itself, as it is both a social and professional fraternity for men with an interest in agriculture. Founded in 1904 at Ohio State University and the University of Illinois, Alpha Gamma Rho has grown nationwide. It was in 1923 when Phi Chapter found at home at U.C. Davis. AGR membership does not end during your college years, it is a lifelong brotherhood that continues long after you graduate. Many agricultural leaders nationwide in education, government, industry, and production are Alpha Gamma Rho brothers.

    Leadership

Alpha Gamma Rho complements your formal education by encouraging leadership development. Many AGRs who were former 4-H, FFA, and high school leaders now are the ones involved in so many activities on campus, in the community and in agriculture.

    Scholarship

Alpha Gamma Rho recognizes that the primary reason for attending U.C. Davis is to receive an education. Bringing together men that have a common interest of agriculture also brings together friends in the same classes. These helpful brothers are always willing to study to achieve our academic best. As of the spring quarter, Alpha Gamma Rho currently has the third highest Grade Point Average. Brothers also have the opportunity to receive financial scholarships through our local Alumni Association.

    Housing

The Phi Chapter house in Davis, built in 1970, comfortably accommodates 40 men. The active members as well as the alumni are very proud in the house and take great pride in knowing that it is the cleanest and most orderly fraternity house in Davis. The Alpha Gamma Rho house is the most economical place to live for the actives, especially as the number of apartments continues to decline and rents increase in Davis.

How does living in the house benefit you?

    Social

A big part of college is learning how to meet and work with people. It is often said that the most important part of your education is learning people skills outside the classroom. Through organized social activities Alpha Gamma Rho seeks to provide this opportunity to its members. These social events require planning and cooperation on the part of everyone to make them a success. But the fun and enjoyment make it worthwhile.

    Becoming a Brother

Alpha Gamma Rho is unique among fraternities. There is no hazing or pledging. We were one of the first fraternities to eliminate pledging and hazing.

AGR has developed the Brotherhood Program to eliminate the possibility of hazing. It is an enlightened plan that will continue the tradition of leadership every Brother has come to expect from Alpha Gamma Rho.
